Why is my refrigerator not cooling?
The usual causes, roughly in order: condenser coils packed with dust so the system cannot shed heat, an evaporator that has frozen over from a failed defrost, a failed evaporator or condenser fan, a bad start relay, or a failing compressor. The first is a clean; the middle three are parts; the last is the one where replacing the fridge is often the honest advice. The contents are on a clock, so it is diagnosed the same day where possible.
Is it worth repairing a refrigerator?
For a fridge under ten years old with a failed part, yes — a fan, a relay, a thermostat or a defrost component is a fraction of a new appliance. For an older unit with a failed compressor or a sealed-system leak, usually not, and we say so rather than sell a repair that costs more than it is worth. The diagnostic fee is credited against the work either way.
